Why do you put your wines in a pouch?

Because Medly pouches are environmentally friendly, lightweight and portable, keep wine fresh for up to 45 days, and aerate the wines with every pour.

Are your pouches BPA Free?

Yes. All plastics used in our pouches and spigots are 100% BPA free.

Is one pouch really equal to 4 bottles of wine?

Yes, the standard wine bottle size is 750 ml. Our pouches are 3,000 ml (3 Liters).

How do I know your wines are certified organic?

Our wines are certified organic by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) who works with the government agencies in France (ECOCERT) and Italy (ICEA) to verify the accuracy of all imported organic products.

We have the certification logos on our website on our about page HERE showing all the certifications that our wines have.

To gain and maintain US organic certifications and our Certificate of Label Approvals (COLA), the growing and processing of all our wines must follow strict guidelines in their source countries, and within the US each year.

This is a requirement for all wine labels in the US.

Without these origin certifications, and verifications of them by the USDA, our labels and pouches would not be approved in the US for commercial sales.

Doesn't all wine have sugar?

Not exactly. The juice from pressed grapes contains the sugar (fructose) required for yeast to feed on it and convert it into alcohol. That’s the beauty of fermentation. We let the fermentation take the natural sugars down to zero. We do not add sugars back like many other wineries do (in the form of sucrose) because our wines don’t need it.

Do your wines have sulfites?

Yes. However, our wines have minimal sulfites even when compared to other organic wines.

All our wines contain around 30 ppm. Through our research and trials, this is the minimum that we can use to maintain package stability. The FDA allows up to 100 ppm for organic wines and up to 350 ppm for non-organic wines. Most non-organic wines on U.S. retail shelves today contain between 150 - 250 ppm.

It's important to note that all wines contain sulfites. They are naturally occurring on the grape skins. Even winemaking processes where sulfur is not added will contain 10 - 60 ppm of sulfites.

What if I don’t like the wine?

Your satisfaction is our guarantee. We’re quite confident that you will love our wines, but if you are not satisfied with your order, reach out to hello@drinkmedly.com and we will either replace it for you or refund the amount of your order.

How long does the wine stay fresh after you open it?

Our wine stays fresh and bright up to 45 days after you open it. Our pouches and spigots prevent oxygen exchange so the wine inside the pouch is protected. Oxygen exposure is what causes wine to lose freshness and changes its flavor.

Does the wine need to be refrigerated after opening?

Refrigeration is not required, although we do provide recommended serving temperatures for each wine on our product pages.

Why do you make your wines in the Mediterranean instead of somewhere else, like the United States?

First and foremost, because we love the Mediterranean. We love the feeling of life lived at a slower pace, the history and cultures, the food and wine, the languages. The Med is one of the cradles of civilization, where growers and winemakers have cultivated their craft for thousands of years. Working with Mediterranean wines allows us to broaden our horizons and yours.

There are some great wines made here in the US. However, the majority of wine found on US retail shelves is bulk wine, often doctored with ingredients that we wouldn’t want anyone to consume. While there are estate growers making high quality, additive-free, organic wines, the price is often prohibitive to the everyday consumer.

We believe great wine, made as nature intended, should be available to everyone at a reasonable price.

What is biodynamic farming?

This farming practice takes growing organic to another level. Biodynamic farms are inspired by the biodiversity of natural ecosystems and the uniqueness of each landscape. Annual and perennial herbs, flowers, forage, native plants, and pollinator hedgerows can all contribute to plant diversity, amplifying the health and resilience of the vineyards.

What is regenerative agriculture?

Regenerative agriculture strives to work with nature rather than against it. Regenerative agriculture is more than just being sustainable. It's about reversing degradation and building up the soil to make it healthier.

A healthy soil is a fabulously complex ecosystem, comprising countless billions of microscopic organisms all working away in their own little niches.

A healthy ecosystem does not require the use of herbicides and pesticides. Medly grapes are grown without the use of applied pesticides or herbicides making our wines free of them as well.
